:: PEOPLE :: Baja Sound's directing producer has been a musician since 1970 and recording music since 1976, originally working with Sony Sound-on-Sound ¼ inch reel to reels. Having good gear is one thing, but a hammer is only as good as the carpenter that wields it. We have been involved with, and following the art of, digital music production since 1995. :: HARDWARE :: We use MusicXPC computers, which are designed specifically for music production. We have over three terabytes of recording storage and 8 gigabytes of RAM for intensive on-line processing and VST Instruments. Additional VST power is provided by Universal Audio's award winning UAD-1 DSP card with the Ultra Pack VST bundle, and TC Electronic's PowerCore Express DSP card. A rack of three Presonus firewire/optical recording interfaces and microphone preamps (1 Firestudio, 2 DigiMax FS), provide the 24 discreet simultaneous recording channels, and is fully portable for live performance recording. The XMAX Class A microphone preamplifiers within these devices are custom designed and provide high headroom, low noise, wide dynamic range and wide frequency range, and most importantly, musicality and transparency. Dynaudio Acoustics BM-6A near field monitors, coupled with a KRK subwoofer provide detailed monitoring with a solid bass foundation. Other outboard gear includes: :: TC Electronic Finalizer 96K Studio Mastering Processor :: dbx 166XL Compressor/Limiter :: Lexicon MX300 Stereo Reverb & FX :: ART HQ-231 1/3 octave Stereo EQ :: SWR Super Redhead with Tube Preamp Stage :: POD XT Live :: Roland GR-20 Guitar Synth Module We have a wide range of microphones, which have been owned solely by us over the years, and which we have come to know intimately. Knowing how a microphone will react in a given situation is the dominant skill needed to chose the right mic for the right task. :: (2) - Earthworks QTC-40 stereo matched pair ultra small diaphragm omni :: (2) - Sennheiser MD421 II Large Diaphragm Dynamic :: (3) - Sennheiser e604 Cardiod Hi SPL :: (1) - Sennheiser e602 II Low Frequency :: (2) - AKG C535EB Cardiod Condenser :: (2) - APEX 185 Pencil Condenser Matched Pair omni/cardiod :: (2) - APEX 460 Large Diaphragm Tube Condenser :: (1) - APEX 415 Large Diaphragm Condenser :: (1) - APEX 215 Dual Element Ribbon :: (1) - Shure SM 58 :: (1) - Shure SM 58 Beta :: (4) - Shure SM 57 :: (2) - Shure SM 57 Beta We have a TC Helicon Voice Live vocal preprocessor for those with needs :) Baja Sound uses three stages of power conditioning and distribution to ensure the erratic nature of the A/C current in the Baja Peninsula in no way interferes with the recording process. :: SOFTWARE :: Baja Sound owns all the software it uses, ensuring we have the latest reliable versions. Recording is done with Steinberg’s Cubase 4 using Waves, Powercore, Universal Audio, Sonnox, Antares and Celemony Melodyne plugins, among others. Our VST rack contains more than 30 instruments, including all Spectrasonics products, Native Instruments Core Complete 5, with Kore 2, Reason 4 and two full orchestral suites. We have a great selection of VST drums to help you find just the sound you are looking for, including Groove Agent, Battery, BFD, Stylus, Drum Core, EZ Drummer and others. We master with Finalizer, Universal Audio Precision Tools, WaveLab, Ozone and Sound Forge. :: INSTRUMENTS :: :: Korg Triton Synth/controller :: M-Audio Ozone controller :: 65 Fender Stratocaster guitar :: 87 Kramer American guitar with POD XT - Live :: Godin Multiac Nylon Acoustic/Electric/Synth guitar with Synth Module :: Ibanez Gary Willis 5 string fretless bass :: Fender Deluxe P-Bass Special 4 String :: Cort Curbow 4 string funk bass :: Yamaha Pro Tenor Sax :: Gemeinhardt flute :: Latin Percussion :: COMING SOON :: :: KRK E.R.G.O.
